Embark On A Food Adventure

DECIDING on a restaurant is never an easy task, especially with the numerous options available in Kuala Lumpur. The Gastronomical Adventure 2009 frees diners from having to make that decision by offering a restaurant-hopping experience around the Changkat Bukit Bintang area.

"We came up with this package so that food lovers can sample bits and pieces from different restaurants," said organiser Urban Rhythms Tours, Adventure & Travel Sdn Bhd's chief executive officer, Nigel Wong.

He said the programme was organised for the month of April but had been extended until the end of May due to popular demand.

"Previously, customers had to choose between fixed combinations but starting May, they will be able to choose where they would prefer to have their starters, mains and desserts," Wong said.

The five participating restaurants are Bermuda & Onion, Delucca, Flam's, Le Bouchon and Palate Pallete, all of which are located in or around Changkat Bukit Bintang, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

"All they have to do is go online, select the date and the restaurants, make the payment and get their ticket to be presented on the day," Wong said.

With the tickets priced between RM50 and RM76, Wong said, food lovers would get to savour what each restaurant had to offer at a discounted price.

The most difficult part of the deal would probably be choosing what and where to eat, with each restaurant offering three choices of their signature dishes for each course.

At Le Bouchon, managing director Philippe Le Francois aptly described his restaurant: "It's a French restaurant managed by a Frenchman!"

Flam's offers pork-free Italian dining with dishes such as the Dill's cured salmon fillet with ginger seasoning and garden salad for starters and the lamb and mint risotto for mains.

For a more laid-back dinner, Bermuda & Onion (non-halal) is a good place to dig into dishes like the hearty plate of grilled BBQ giant ribs with beans and potatoes.

Delucca, located off the main Changkat Bukit Bintang area, serves mainly Northern Italian seafood cuisine in a warm and cosy interior. With a quirky and creative interior, Palate Palatte is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the stomach, with items like an old z wooden door as a table top and mismatched chairs.

Special beverage promotions are also available at each outlet.

The Gastronomical Adventure package is also available for restaurants along Jalan Bangkung in Bangsar and diners can pick from Cava, Tasting Room, Tea for Two, Leonardo's and U restaurant.
