Fun and adventure awaits

Not many caves can fit in a car comfortable let alone a plane! Our internationally renowned and among Malaysia's most blessed nature collection, Mulu Cave is here to unravel its deep dark secrets!

Not too far away from the borders of Brunei, hidden within deceptively gentle sloping hills, lies one of the most awe-inspiring wonders of nature - an underground limestone cave system spanning more than 200 kilometres - and that's only what's been explored so far.

The largest and most majestic among all caves is the Deer cave which houses the "Sarawak Chamber", a cavern so massive it can fit forty Boeing 747's! The cave also houses thousands upon thousands of bats. One of the caves major attractions is the nightly exodus of these winged animals taking to the skies in precise, highly coordinated squadrons to hunt and feed.

Other known caves among the system are Lang's, Clearwater and Wind caves. The caves are part of an expanding network of national parks in Sarawak and, as the terrain goes, are surrounded by primary rainforest. Visitors to the park will undoubtedly be amazed by the rich biodiversity found both above and underground. The caves itself are well-lit and have platforms or paved pathways that are cleaned daily and casual visitors need only bring along a good pair of rubber-soled sandals or shoes, a flashlight and a waterproof jacket or poncho.

There are only three places to stay in the park and the most luxurious is the Royal Mulu Resort, an international-class hotel with full service facilities. Chalets, dormitory-style accommodation and camping facilities are also available within the park headquarters. These wonders of nature can be accessible via overland or take a flight from Miri or Limbang. The more intrepid adventurers can make their way to the national park by boat or in specially equipped four-wheel-drive vehicles (4WD).
